A Word About Birthdays

If you would like to send in a treat for your child’s birthday, you may do so that day. As a district, we are trying to minimize the amounts of sugar that children are exposed to and often eat. Their teeth will thank us!

Here are some ideas you may want to try:

1. Instead of sending in a sugary treat to school, why not send something healthy, like your child’s favorite fruit or veggie, or maybe goldfish crackers?

2. Sometimes non-food treats are just as fun, like stickers, a bookmark, a balloon, or something that is as unique as your child.

3. What if your child brought a birthday book to our class (wrapped in birthday paper and tied with a ribbon, if you wish)?! The book would become a permanent part of our classroom library. What a nice way for your child to share his/her birthday!

Traditional treats are always yummy, too, but feel free to try something different...and healthy!
